Google has announced their brand-new selection of Pixel 9 smartphones, touting the improvements seen with AI features. This was much more in advance of the typical autumnal launches for new Pixel models from Google. But they still represent a mainstream makeover, one greater in extent -- and more radical in approach -- than any which have gone before.
These new smartphones also have improved integrations with the AI technology of Google.To cite an illustrative example, Pixels come with special features such that one can search for details from screenshot images resulting from the optimised approach. Furthermore, some elements of their features can be an overlay in other apps through the Gemini chatbot.
At Alphabet's Bay front campus in Mountain View, Calif., Rick Osterloh, Google SVP of Devices and Services, said that utilising AI on a real-life level is something the company was working towards. He described to the audience of an era of Gemini which is set to begin with Google building its advanced AI model.
The base Pixel 9, which starts at $799, has a 6.3-inch display The Pixel 9 Pro XL is the larger of two, with a 6.8-inch display. For a bit of an upgrade, you can go for the Pixel 9 Pro which gets more advanced camera setup compared to its ‘standard' sibling but cost notably higher. Lastly, the foldable Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
On the initial shipping date of Google stated at its event that Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL would ship in late August. Both the Pro and Pro Fold will ship in September, with all models up for preorder beginning on August 13. During a presentation from Google at the event, Gemini's new capabilities were highlighted during live demos for its conversational experiences.This includes a new exterior redesign, the addition of Google’s latest camera system and the newly unveiled Tensor G4 chip.
Along with smartphones, the company also introduced the next generation of its Pixel Watch 3 smartwatch and pixel Buds Pro 2 truly wireless earphones. It can also monitor your heart rate and call emergency services if it doesn't detect a heartbeat. It will be released in the UK and EU

According to IDC, Google had an even less than 1-percent share of the worldwide smartphone market for second-quarter 2024. Samsung and Apple made the No1 & 2 places with shares of Samsung 19% and Apple at15.8%. In the US, Google is ranked fourth among smartphone operating systems and has a 4.5% share of sales/shipments in market share terms.
Google Pixel isn't one of the best-selling smartphones, industry analysts point out that as to Android system. More than 80% of smartphone users worldwide are on Android.
